Meet Ms. Parra
In my lessons in my fourth grade class, I talk about biographies. Now here I go writing a biography about myself.
I have been teaching for 9 years, with EPISD. I wasn't always a teacher, I started out in the environmental field taking measurement of pipes in the underground world. I moved to El Paso, fourteen years ago. I was a volunteer coordinator and the President of the PTA in another school district.
Then it hit me, I want to be a teacher. I went and told the principal, I am going to become a teacher. I did just that, it was not always an easy road. I was a full time mom and took care of all household chores. There were some very long nights of studying, I would get up at 3:00 in the morning, grab a flashlight and hide in a cabinet to study for my exams. All the hard work and perserverance paid off. I managed throughout my time at UTEP, to maintain a high grade point average.
I am not a newcomer to teaching all in all, I have been in the classroom 20 years.
When it's time to take a break from it all, I love a good book and a great cup of coffee. I love the outdoors, I love to fish, go camping. I really enjoy looking for rocks, can you believe that one year for a Christmas present, my parents bought me a rock pick. I was thrilled beyond words, this meant no more broken dreams and half cracked rocks.
I look forward to all of the long life lessons, I will learn from teaching your children and my students.
